Evangel University’s traveling worship band, HeartSong, released it’s ninth album, “Nothing is Impossible” on Monday, November 4, 2013. The album is available on iTunes and can be purchased from the Evangel University Music Department.
The repertoire covers a variety of styles from contemporary worship, gospel and traditional tracks, according to Dr. Bonnie Jenkins, executive producer and director. Songs include “Jesus the Same,” “Faithful to Believe,” “Our God/Awesome God,” “No Other Name,” “Great I Am,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Te Amo,” “Holy, Holy, Holy,” “Magnificent and Holy,” and “Lord, You’re Holy.” There are 12 singers and nine instrumentalists on the recording, which was done live in the Hamill Recital Hall on the campus of Central Bible College (CBC). Barry Kinzer is the producer and recording engineer on the project.
HeartSong was founded by Jenkins in 1993 as the touring worship band for CBC. With the consolidation of Evangel, CBC and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary this fall, HeartSong now represents the consolidated university and includes students from both CBC and Evangel.
The group, known for its powerful worship, high energy, musical excellence and ministry emphasis, ministers nationally and internationally through worship concerts year round. Their music includes contemporary, traditional, and gospel worship styles as they perform for multi-generational and cultural audiences.
“The transition to Evangel has gone very well,” says Jenkins. “Approximately one-third of the group is made up of Evangel students and the other two-thirds are last year’s HeartSong members. They have blended well and are a family already.”
Jenkins says one of the highlights for HeartSong this year was leading worship at the university’s Homecoming chapel service in October. “We were honored to lead worship during Homecoming this year and I felt that the Evangel community received us well.”
In spring 2014, HeartSong will travel to Italy and minister in Rome, along with other cities and towns. They also tour on weekends during the school year and throughout summer breaks. See the full schedule.
