AGTS to host Summer Institute for Islamic Studies

The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary Center for Islamic Studies will host the Summer Institute for Islamic Studies from June 30 to July 11, 2014. Courses are designed for ministers, missionaries, chaplains and others who live or work with Muslims and would like to take a class in Islamic Studies for credit. A 75 percent discount is offered to those who would like to audit one of the courses.

“Despite having lived, studied and worked with Muslims, I was not able to engage in any fruitful encounters until I attended the Summer Institute for Islamic Studies at AGTS,” says Patrice Chinje, an AGTS Student from Cameroon, Central Africa. Courses will be taught in a modular format on the AGTS campus:

Engaging Islam Dr. Mark Hausfeld
Director of Center for Islamic Studies at AGTS. International director of Global Initiative: Reaching Muslim Peoples. Has 29 years of pastoral and missions experience in Chicago, Pakistan and Central Asia.
Discipleship Issues Among Believers from a Muslim Background Dr. Roy Oksnevad
Director of Muslim Ministry Program at Wheaton College through the Billy Graham Center. Has 25 years of missionary experience working among Muslims overseas and in the U.S.
Church Planting in Muslim Contexts Dick Brogden
Has served among Muslims for the last 20 years; Mauritania (1992), Kenya (1993-1995), and Sudan (1996-2011). Leads a multi-national church planting team in Cairo, Egypt that trains team leaders to plant churches across the Arab Muslim world.
Stepping Stones: Jesus from the Qur’an to the Bible Dr. Don McCurry
Ministered for 18 years in Pakistan. Taught at Fuller Theological Seminary. Founded Samuel Zwemer Institute of Muslim Studies. Has authored five books on ministry to Muslims.
