Equation for Life’s Calling

Abraham Lincoln echoed Ecclesiastes 9:10 when he said, “Whatever you are, be a good one.” What if it were really that simple? Instead of worrying and deliberating over what major to choose and what career to go into, what if you simply did what you were good at and enjoyed doing it? You could work at being a good [fill in the blank].

The best advice I received in regard to college and vocations was to find what I was good at and what I loved and then, see if I could make a career out of the combination of the two. I realized that God gave me the intellect and ability to teach and a love for theology.

Teaching + Theology = Professor of Theology

It seemed perfect! Other events and words of wisdom have confirmed this and this is what I am pursuing.

God equips each one of us with unique abilities and desires. God does not “call” each person to a specific career or job, but He has called each one of His children to live a holy life—a life set apart for Him. That includes using the abilities, talents and opportunities He has given us for His glory. He has equipped each one of His children to do good works (Eph. 2:10).
