Degree Programs
Majors
Majors in this department can earn a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Arts degree. The Department of Behavioral Sciences offers the following majors:
- Psychology: The psychology major prepares students for a variety of careers where an understanding of human behavior is important. Undergraduates find jobs in human service organizations, churches, schools, and other agencies. In addition, those who wish to enter graduate school to become a psychologist or prepare for careers in counseling and related professions can design a program that will help them meet the admission requirements.
- Social Work: Students in this comprehensive major can also go directly into professional fields or pursue graduate studies. In addition to courses in social work, majors devote a substantial amount of time to work within the community. This program has earned national accreditation with the Council on Social Work Education.
- Criminal Justice: This program is designed to prepare students who wish to enter the multifaceted field of criminal justice. This includes law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole and juvenile justice.
Minors
- Biopsychology is intended for those interested in pursuing careers that involve the interfacing of psychology and the medical field. These include careers in psychiatry, neuropsychology, and behavioral media.
- Family Relations courses enrich a student's personal, marriage, and family life by providing insights and skills to help others in lay and para-professional counseling.
- Sociology is recommended for those interested in leadership in communities, college and university teaching, research, cross-cultural studies, foreign service, journalism, social work, human relations, community planning, and church ministries.
Degree Completion
Bachelor of Science in Human Services
For working adults with approximately two years of previous college credit, Evangel's Professional Studies program offers a Bachelor of Science in Human Services that can be completed in 18 months.
Graduate Studies
A Master of Science degree is offered in Clinical Psychology, General Psychology, and Guidance and Counseling.
