Welcome to Evangel's Business Department
Business may be one of the most challenging, flexible, and practical paths you can choose, regardless of the vocational area you feel called to enter. Our business graduates are not only taking key roles in for-profit enterprises, they are helping lead humanitarian, ministry, and government organizations around the world achieve their mission and goals.
Each year, hundreds of business majors are in the process of earning the Bachelor of Business Administration degree with comprehensive majors in management, marketing, accounting, finance, public administration or business education. These students are eager to gain the business knowledge and skills they need to utilize their strengths and interests for the profession they choose. For example, we have business students who see the business degree as a way to enter into missions and to help people establish enterprises that will improve their lives. Many more Evangel students are completing a minor or concentration in business to help them navigate through the business world as they pursue professional careers in areas such as art, medicine, computer science, government, music, counseling, pastoral ministry. We offer minors in international business and human resource management in addition to minors in all of our major areas.
Why Evangel?
- We've been doing this for a long time. Evangel's business degree was part of the founding of the University over 50 years ago.
- It's personal and practical. Our staff of highly qualified instructors become your personal advisors to help you recognize your career choices and guide you through your course work. Many of the professors have "real world" experience in the areas they teach. Students have opportunities to visit companies, participate in real projects, gain practical experience, and develop team skills through classroom activities and projects, internships, and participation in student-led organizations such as Students in Free Enterprise/Phi Beta Lambda.
- We are recognized for the quality of our program. Our students consistently rank at the highest levels in regional and national business competitions. We have a consortium agreement that allows qualified seniors to enroll in master's programs in accountancy, business administration, or health care administration at Missouri State University and receive dual credit for up to 9 credit hours of master's program courses.
- We've been successful. Our graduates serve as leaders of small and large enterprises around the world. We learn from them to keep our curriculum and practices relevant. For example, we currently have four alumni serving as the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Internal Auditor, and Chief Information Officer at Denberry, a major energy company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. See Alumni Tracker for other leaders
- Best of all, we encourage a Christian worldview of business. Our graduates actually have an advantage when entering the workforce because organizations are eager to hire people with values, integrity, and character.
