Faculty and students attend 2011 state convention
Eight Kinesiology Department students and four faculty members recently attended the 2011 Missouri Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Convention at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake of Ozarks.
Degree Programs
Majors
By choosing one of the majors in Kinesiology, you earn a Bachelor of Science degree.
- The Athletic Training (pdf) major prepares you to be fully qualified for a position as an athletic trainer in a variety of setting including: secondary school systems, collegiate athletic departments, out-patient rehabilitation clinics, hospital systems, and industrial settings. Application (pdf)
- The Physical Education (pdf) major prepares you to teach and/or coach in grades K-12. You will develop professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be effective in teaching and related fields.
- The Recreation (pdf) major prepares you for positions in: Parks and Recreation, YMCA’s, Boys and Girls Clubs, Country clubs, Facilities serving retirees or the elderly, State and national parks, Church recreational facilities, and Campgrounds
- The Exercise Science, Pre-Physical Therapy Track (pdf) or Personal Training Track (pdf), major prepares you for employment as an exercise specialist in community, corporate, university or clinical settings. It also prepares you for entry into graduate school in disciplines related to: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, or Kinesiology.
Minors
- Health qualifies you for certification in grades PK-9.
- Personal Training is a comprehensive minor for those interested in becoming personal trainers or group fitness instructors.
