Class Offerings and Description

Art Classes

Drawing Lessons — Learn to draw what you see and to see what you draw. Learn how to draw what you observe in life and your imagination. Drawing skills and attitude are presented to allow the student to represent what is seen on paper and to discover that with more drawing, more seeing takes place. Included are techniques for line, value and texture with a goal of becoming comfortable with shading. Supplies needed: Drawing paper pad, 14x18 or larger, graphite pencils 2B, 5B and 8B, white plastic eraser, soft compressed charcoal stick and pencil, black ballpoint pen and fine point markers. Digital Photography Class — This class is for the beginner photographer who desire to learn the basic and advanced skills to use a digital camera. The class will also cover the basic and advanced techniques in Photoshop. This class is held two Saturdays, 3 hour long classes.

Music Classes

Worship Piano Class — This class is for those who have some background and skill in piano playing but want to learn to play worship songs from lead sheets or chord charts. Students will learn chording and improv playing with chords. The class will play and sing together worship songs each week. Class takes place in the EU piano lab where each student has their own piano and headphones.

Private Piano Lessons — One on one lesson for 30 minutes per week. These lessons are designed for the student that does not fit into the group class setting for various reasons. All ages, levels and past experience of playing are welcome to sign up for private lessons. Scheduled lesson times are determined by the instructor and student's schedules. As the CSA piano classes, the fast easy learning chord method is use but taught one on one. Traditional method of learning can also be taught on requests. Violin Lessons — One on one lesson for 30 minutes per week. These traditional violin lessons are designed for students of all ages, levels and past experience. Scheduled lesson times are determined by the instructor and student's schedules. Percussion Lessons — Private one on one lessons for the student wanting to learn to play percussion instruments.  Whether you are a beginner or advanced we will design lessons to meet your needs. Guitar Sessions (2nd grade– Adult) — The session is a combination of group and private lessons. Students can begin anytime throughout the year. The schedule is flexible and can be extended to accommodate any missed sessions. Whether you are a beginner or advanced we will design lessons to meet your needs. Two locations – EU campus and a south Springfield studio. All you need is a guitar.

Suzuki Violin Preparatory Program — Each student (ages 4 – 18 yrs) attends a weekly lesson and also participates in group classes held on two Saturdays of each month. The program utilizes the Suzuki Method of teaching which seeks to develop the whole child and involves memorization of music. Students have the opportunity to perform in various group and solo venues such as recitals, Springfield Symphony Orchestra pre–concert music, Branson theaters, and other selected performance.

Voice Lessons – Private one on one lessons for the student wanting to develop their solo or choral singing voice. . Whether you are a beginner or advanced we will design lessons to meet your needs. Woodwind or Brass Lessons — (5th grade and older) Lessons are a combination of private and group lessons. Whether you are a beginner or advanced we will design lessons to meet your needs.
