HPER Alumni UpdateJosh and Milta (Oyola) Little both graduated from Evangel in 2002. Josh obtained a degree in Physical Education, and Milta received a degree in Biology. Here, Josh shares a recent update.
I am in the process of completing my Ph.D. in Clinical Anatomy from Saint Louis University. After the completion my final course this summer, I will take a comprehensive qualifying examination over all the major disciplines in the anatomical sciences (e.g. gross anatomy, neuroscience, embryology, histology, etc.) during the first two weeks of August. In the fall I will submit an official research proposal for my dissertation. My current research interests are localizing and elucidating neurochemical mechanisms of the central nervous system involved in the development and maintenance of chronic pain states.

As part of my fellowship agreement I am a teaching assistant for gross anatomy and neuroscience courses for the medical school and other programs. Additionally, I am creating an interactive, computer-based, cross-sectional anatomy atlas that will hopefully be ready for the fall semester medical students taking gross anatomy.
Milta will finish her Internal Medicine residency (in which she is excelling) next June and hopes to begin a fellowship in Geriatrics next July at Saint Louis University Hospital. I hope this happens because we will be across the street from one another!
