Science and Technology Degree Programs
Science and Technology majors provide a foundational level of scientific literacy.
Students planning to teach secondary school can choose a Biology, Chemistry, or Mathematics Education major, completing Secondary Education professional requirements through the Department of Education.
- Biology is a wide-ranging field of endeavor, allowing for many diverse employment opportunities and graduate studies. Recent graduates have entered the fields of medicine (including physicians, nursing, physician's assistants, physical therapists and medical technologists), marine biology, field ecology, pharmacology, veterinary medicine, teaching, physiological computing, and many others.
- Biological Chemistry
The biological chemistry major was designed to be an interdisciplinary major for biology or chemistry students that seek further graduate training in a biological or medical setting. A major in biological chemistry is also a perfect fit for students looking toward careers in pre pharmacy. - Biology Education
- Chemistry majors are also prepared for a wide variety of career options and graduate studies. Recent graduates have opened their own chemical analysis laboratories, gone to medical school or become teachers.
- Chemistry Education
- Computer Information Systems covers information technology, information systems management, information systems development and implementation, organizational functions, and concepts/processes of organizational management.
- Computer Science is one of the fastest-growing fields in college education, and career opportunities abound for our graduates. The program provides preparation for employment upon graduation or for an academic career in graduate school.
- Environmental Science is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to prepare for professional work in areas relating to the environment, conservation, or field research. Students in this program take a broad mix of classes in the life and physical sciences. This major provides students with a large amount of field and laboratory work.
- Health Care-Nursing is a cooperative effort with the Lester L. Cox College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Participants earn two Bachelor’s degrees: a B.S. in Health Care from Evangel and a B.S.N. from Cox.
- Mathematics majors may go on to teach mathematics or go to graduate school. Graduates in mathematics also find that their degree opens the door to a number of other opportunities, from actuarial science to business to law school.
- Medical Technology is a cooperative program in which students attend Evangel for three years, and — if accepted — complete the fourth year in a local school of medical technology.
Minors
Minors are available in areas listed above plus General Science, Physical Science, and Physics.
