GPA

Many students find the transition from high school to college a challenge, especially in the area of grades. Some who were able to get high grades without studying in high school find it challenging to get such grades even after studying many hours at the college level. There is not room here to provide much information about the many successful studying, test taking, and time management strategies used by students. It is recommended that you speak with your professors and advisors for advice in this area. You need to be careful to avoid establishing a low GPA early in your college career that you end up trying to make up for later. It is much better to start off with high grades and little social life and add more social life than to do the reverse! If you do earn low grades, and later choose to retake those classes, it is important that you meet with your advisor to determine which courses are best to repeat.
