Congratulations! You've chosen a challenging and rewarding curriculum that will require a good deal of sacrifice for you to be successful. Reaching your goal will require knowing what you want and diligence in working to achieve that goal. Motivation, excellent study habits, dedication, responsibility, a strong work ethic, academic integrity, and dependability are traits common to successful applicants. You should strive for a GPA of at least 3.5 and solid scores on the applicable professional admissions tests for a reasonable chance of admission to a professional program.
We suggest you consider taking longer to complete your program than to attempt too many hours or to attempt courses for which you are not prepared. Finishing "on time" might not seem so important if it results in a lower GPA and diminished opportunity to be admitted to the program of your choice.
The reasons for choosing the practice of medicine as a career are as diverse as the people who go into it: wanting to help others, enjoying and having an aptitude for science, and liking the challenge and excitement are only a few. Evangel premedical faculty believe that there is an enormous need for Christian physicians, and that the Lord called us to minister to both the spiritual and physical needs of those around us. The practice of medicine can be a very powerful expression of God's Love.
We look forward to working with you to achieve your dream! Work to the best of your God-given abilities and trust Him to guide you into the profession where you can best serve.
