She has produced promotional videos for international organizations, such as “Robin’s Nest,” a children’s home in Montego Bay, Jamaica; and “Anarug,” a Christian organization that sponsors a feeding program and education classes for poor children in New Delhi, India.
Krista’s overseas career began a year after she graduated from Evangel, in the summer of 1993. She moved to Brussels, Belgium, where she worked for 3-1/2 years at International Media Ministries. While there, Krista helped produce the international children’s show called “Winds of Adventure,” which has aired in the Middle East and India.
Krista was also involved in training nationals in both Europe and Africa in television production.
“My education at Evangel was invaluable as I worked in this first job opportunity overseas,” said Krista.
In 1996, Krista became a full-time communications instructor at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minn., where she taught for eight years. During her time at North Central, Krista took groups of broadcasting students overseas to experience media in a cross-cultural environment.
In 2005, Krista took a position as a writer and producer for Element Media and Design, in Port Washington, Wisconsin. While there, she worked on projects for several for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
She recalled, “A highlight was traveling to Moscow, Russia, for the ‘Euroleague Final Four’ basketball tournament, where I shot stills of the games and players.”
In August of 2006, Krista transitioned to a full-time position with CBN World Reach as senior producer/ managing producer of TV programming in India.
Krista’s time is divided between working at the stateside office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and in New Delhi and Hyderabad, India. She currently oversees two production teams in India, made up of about 60 employees. The teams produce four different programs in three different languages that are broadcast on Indian television.
Krista’s love for world culture and travel has reached beyond her multifaceted career. Krista joined two friends in the summer of 2005 on a backpacking adventure that took them through 12 countries in a span of six weeks. They followed an ancient Christian pilgrim path from Rome to Jerusalem, interviewing over 200 people and asking them about their views of God.
En route, Krista took over 1,000 photographs, some of which will be included in the book “The Sacred Bench Journey,” written by one of her companions, Tamara Park.
The book is being published by InterVarsity Press and is scheduled for release in September 2008.
Krista said that she often thinks back on her time at Evangel and considers it a springboard for the exciting life that she is living today.
“My years at Evangel and the excellent education I received have proven to be a strong foundation in all my pursuits, from training to working abroad,” Krista said.
