Ron Kimes '65
Major: Physical Education
Occupation: Retired High School Counselor
Ron spent 20 years in the Kansas Army National Guard, retiring in 1987 as a Command Sergeant Major. He was the Commandant of the NCO Academy when he retired. Ron was also Soldier of the Year for the State of Kansas in 1972.
Ron has been an Associate Pastor since 1976 at First Assembly of God in Ottawa. He taught English, Speech, and Debate for ten years before getting his Masters in Secondary Counseling at Emporia State University. He was counselor at Ottawa High School for twenty years before retiring in 1998.
According to Ron, “Going to Evangel in the early 60’s was the best time it could have been for me. Size was about right and the closeness of the students and staff was great! That time also allowed me to meet my future wife, DeeAnna Spigle, and we will celebrate our 40th anniversary August 16th.”
