Major: Communication Studies (Minors: Music and Psychology)
Occupation: Consultant, Deloitte Consulting, LLP, Minneapolis MN

“If something is worth doing, then it’s worth doing to the best of your abilities. Just do your best, and God will bless your efforts.”

These are the words Beth grew up hearing, and these are the principles that have guided her before, during and after her four years at Evangel. At Evangel, Beth experienced a stimulating, fun environment that allowed her to exceed even her own expectations, one that cemented her faith in herself and in a faithful, gracious heavenly Father.

“The ‘all truth is God’s truth’ mantra we discussed throughout Evangel, beginning in Essential Christianity freshman year, really made an impact on me,” Beth said. “I’m so thankful for the perspective it gave us of it being okay to think critically and open-mindedly.

“The professors, the classes, the chapel services, the other students—every part of Evangel was a major factor in my process of making my faith my own rather than merely something handed down to me from my parents and grandparents.”

Beth continues to actively serve out the mission of living God’s truth. After graduating as the “Outstanding Communication Studies Graduate,” she was blessed with multiple job offers in her field of study. Today she works as a business and communication consultant out of Deloitte Consulting’s Minneapolis office. The position takes her to different cities and clients around the world, often in the form of assignments that last for months at a time.

“My Evangel education and the support and challenges of excellence from my advisors have played a key role in my ability to succeed, as well as be a witness, in the marketplace,” Beth said.

She often recalls (with a grin) the memories of living on Burgess 2 nd North and the close friendships formed that last even today. “All of it—the hilarious memories, being in leadership positions on B2N, accompanying in the Music Department, being a ‘work study’—helped me develop into the person I am today.”

This includes retaining the precedent for active ministry she witnessed and experienced at Evangel. Beth is a member of Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington, Minn., and volunteers with the fine arts department and the 20-something ministry. She has also participated in several short-term missions trips since college, including trips to China and the Ukraine.

“Bottom line?” she said. “It’s hard to imagine what my life today would be like if I hadn’t gone to Evangel. It’s so fun to look back and see God’s hand with me every step of the way.”
