During his first year of teaching in Detroit, Michigan, Christopher Moran attended a performance of the Evangel Concert Choir at Brightmoor Tabernacle. Although Christopher and Christa Gianettino (a member of the Choir) had been friends during their time together at Evangel, that concert was a defining moment that eventually resulted in a long-distance courtship and their marriage on July 8, 1995.
Christa graduated from Evangel in 1993, with a degree in elementary education. She is grateful to her professors in the Education Department for preparing her to be a good teacher. Christa began her teaching career with a MAPS assignment to Asuncion, Paraguay, teaching in a missionary school. After teaching six years in the public school systems of Newport News, Virginia, and Whitehouse, Texas, she now devotes her time to three future Crusaders: Rebekah (6), Elisabeth (3), and Susanna (10 months). Christa has been a homemaker for the past five years and invests her energies in raising her children in a godly home. She is involved in a leadership role in Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), an international Christian women’s organization.
Christopher began his teaching career in Detroit, Michigan, and eventually made his way back to his to hometown in Whitehouse, Texas. He served as a teacher and coach for six years while earning a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler. Following teaching and coaching, he worked for two years as an assistant principal at Whitehouse High School, and for the past five years he has served as principal.
Whitehouse High School is a public school, grades 9-12, that serves approximately 1,240 students in Northeast Texas. Christopher was named Educator of the Year for the high school in 2000. He currently serves as a state board member for the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) on the Instructional Improvement Committee, and he serves as a mentor for school administrators for the Texas Education Agency (TEA). In addition, he is in the final year of earning his doctorate degree in educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Christopher has hosted both the Evangel Concert Choir and Orchestra at Whitehouse High School to promote Evangel and the great education it provides.
The Morans have been active in their local church and have been involved in choir, orchestra, and Sunday school leadership, and Christopher has served as a member of the board of deacons.
Christopher and Christa have fond memories of their Evangel days. Highlights for Christa include touring with the Concert Choir in Europe, singing at Carnegie Hall, serving on the Activities Board, and four great years of residing on Lewis 2 nd North.
Christopher recalls the corn fritters in the caf, the smell of the Ashcroft Activities Center, and the lifelong friends made, especially “The Brethren” of K3N.
