Greg WilesGreg Wiles ’91
Major: Physical Education and Health
Occupation: Principal, new Lone Star Middle School

Greg Wiles graduated from Evangel University in 1991 with a degree in physical education and health. In addition, Greg holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Idaho State University. With substantial educational experience under his belt, Wiles was recently named the principal of the new Lone Star Middle School in the Nampa School District in Idaho.

Greg earned football and track scholarships while at Evangel and he was a member of the Evangel football team that traveled to China to play. “You realize how blessed we are as a nation after you have taken at trip like that,” Greg said.

Wiles was a substitute teacher for one year before accepting a full-time teaching position at William Thomas Middle School in the American Falls School District, where he taught for eight years. Later, for two years, Greg served as a coach, part-time teacher and part-time vice principal at the school.

Wiles feels that his Evangel education and experiences prepared him in many ways for his career and gave him the edge to be a successful educator, father and husband.

“Evangel preparation showed me the need that public education has and the importance of demonstrating a Christian influence by integrating your faith with your learning,” he said.
Greg has served as the principal of West Middle School in Nampa for the past eight years. He recently accepted the principal position at the new Lone Star Middle School opening in the fall. The new middle school will help alleviate overcrowding at the Nampa district’s three existing middle schools. Wiles wants to establish an environment at the new school that will make students eager to learn and become involved.

In 2001, Greg was named the Idaho Middle Level Association Region 5 Educator of the Year. His energetic and upbeat personality has made him a highly effective teacher, coach and administrator.

Greg and his wife, Desiree, have been married for 11 years. They have four children, whose ages range from 2-7. Greg and Desiree were both counselors at a YWAM World Impact Tour when they met. The couple dated for two years before marrying in 1996. Desiree, a graduate of Idaho State University, currently runs a 50-women program called Mothers of Preschoolers and will home school her four children until they reach middle school age.

Greg comes from a lineage of Evangel graduates. His parents, Richard and Marlene, both graduated from Evangel in 1961. That trend may continue with Greg and Desiree’s children, as some of them are interested in sports at Evangel.
When Greg is not busy at the middle school, he likes to ski, bike, workout and camp with his family.
