The Evangel University baseball program is one of the university's first varsity sports spanning more than 45 years of competition. Under Lance Quessenberry, who completed his fifth season as head coach in 2011, the program is surged back to prominence in the Heart of America conference with back-to-back trips to the postseason in 2009 and 2010. More than 75 players have been named All-Conference since the program joined the Heart of America Athletic Conference in 1988. Several Evangel players have played professionally in affiliated or independent minor league baseball.

In the summer of 2010, the Crusaders played a series of games and performed community service work in Tlaquepaque, Mexico and hope to make another such trip in the coming years.
