Indoor Track Completes Second Meet of 2009

Springfield, MO – Freshman distance runner Kristen Ostrem set a school record and finished first in the 3000 meter run Saturday at the Snowbird Open indoor track meet at Illinois College. Ostrem won the event with a time of 10:59.18 breaking the school record she set the week before at Missouri Southern’s meet.
In the men’s 3000 meter race, junior Maxwell Schuman also set a school record and finished second with a time 9:12.62.
Other highlights from the meet include senior Taylor Viles finishing fourth in the women’s triple jump (34.00 feet) and she finished fifth in the high jump (4 feet, 9 inches). Junior Edward Sands finished fourth in the 55 meters (6.59 seconds). The Crusaders had three runners finish in the top 10 in the one-mile run with Austin Jacobs finishing second (4:38.35), Nicholas Hestand sixth (4:40.82) and Schuman 10th (4:47.26).
