Springfield, Mo. — LaMarcus Hunter has advanced to the finals in the 55 meter hurdles at the NAIA National Indoor Track Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Hunter will enter the finals tomorrow with the fourth best time through two preliminary rounds. The race is set for 11:50 a.m. (Central time) Saturday.
The Houston, Texas native won his heat in the first preliminary round with a time of 8.30. He ran an 8.18 to finish second in his semifinal heat and posted the fourth best time in the semifinals to advance to the finals tomorrow.
In other Evangel results from the National Championships, sprinter Edward Sands narrowly missed advancing in the 60 meter dash as he missed the last slot by two-thousandths of a second. Sands finished second in his preliminary heat and 13th overall with a time of 6.927. The 12th position posted a 6.925 to take the last slot in the semifinals.
