Crusaders Face Conference Leaders

Evangel plays a four-game series with the leaders in the HAAC on Friday and Saturday. Evangel is 3-3 in the league and in fourth place, two games behind league leading Avila. The Eagles are 4-0 in the conference after sweeping a four-game series in the conference opening games against Missouri Valley. 

Friday’s Starters

Chad Culpepper will make sixth start of the season Friday…He is 4-0 and Evangel has won in each of his five starts…Has struck out 37 in 28 innings…Pitched a complete game in a 9-4 win in his last start: 7 inn, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO…Culpepper is 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in his last three starts…Culpepper is a sophomore from Harrisonville, Missouri.

Rafael Frias will also start Friday…He will make his fifth start and sixth appearance… Evangel has lost each of his four starts…Frias is 0-3 with a 10.57 ERA in his last three starts…Fired a complete game on Feb. 28 in a 2-0 loss to Davenport (Mich.)…In his senior year from Orlando, Fla.

Saturday’s Starters

Andy Pfeifer will start on Saturday making his fifth appearance and third start…Took a loss in his last start March 6 against Baker: 5 inn, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO…Is 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA in his last three games…Win came in relief on Feb. 10 against College of the Ozarks…Is 0-1 with a 6.55 ERA as a starter…In his sophomore year from Springfield-Hillcrest.

Chad Correa also starts Saturday and will make his sixth appearance and fifth start of the year…Got a win on Tuesday at MidAmerica Nazarene: 5 inn, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB,  4 SO…Is 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA in his last starts games…As a starter, is 3-1 with a 4.87 ERA…Is a sophomore from Loveland, Colorado and transferred from Colby C.C.

Best Bats

Andrew Rickman is 5 for 12 (.417) with 2 HR’s in his last five games…Phil Reed has a three-game hitting streak and was 2 for 6 at the plate on Tuesday.
