Evangel Sweeps Weekly Softball Awards; Kimberly Williams and Kendra Corbin Honored

Springfield, MO — Evangel University won both conference player of the week awards for softball this week. Pitcher Kimberly Williams was named Heart of America conference Pitcher of the Week and outfielder Kendra Corbin was named conference Player of the Week.

Williams, a senior from Loveland, Colorado went 2-0 with an earned run average of 0.50. She worked 10 innings allowing 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 earned run, no walks and 14 strikeouts. Williams is 7-3 on the season with a 3.71 ERA.

Corbin, a junior from Andrews, Texas hit .636 in three games last week going 7 for 11 at the plate with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, a triple, and an RBI. She enters the week leading the conference with a .510 batting average and has 50 hits in 98 at-bats. The award marks the second time Corbin has been honored as conference Player of the Week.

The Lady Crusaders are currently ranked 21st nationally by the NAIA with a record of 18-8, 3-0 in the conference and play a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon at Central Methodist.
