Evangel plays the first two of six straight home games today as they face MidAmerica Nazarene in a doubleheader today. Evangel enters today’s game tied for fifth place in the Heart of America Conference with a 10-10 league record. The Crusaders have won three of their last four games.
The Pioneers are in eighth place in the conference and are 7-13 in the league. MidAmerica Nazarene split a four-game series against Baker last weekend.
Andy Pfeifer is scheduled to make his ninth appearance and sixth start of the season today…He has won his last two starts including a win over Missouri Valley Apr. 3 in the last outing: 6 inn, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 SO in a 4-2 win…Is 2-1 with a 4.91 ERA in his last three games…Evangel is 1-4 in games he starts….He picked up a win in relief on Mar. 25 against Graceland working three innings for the bullpen…Has struck out 38 and walked 12 in 33.2 innings so far this season….A product of Springfield-Hillcrest and in his sophomore season.
Chad Correa is also scheduled to start for Evangel today…Correa made his first appearance since Mar. 10 coming out of the bullpen for a win on April 4 against Missouri Valley on Saturday: 3 inn, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO in a 14-9 extra inning win…He has won his last four appearances…Is 3-0 with a 2.77 ERA in his last three games…Evangel is 3-1 in games Correa starts…A sophomore from Loveland, Colorado who played for Colby Community College last year.
