The Pioneers scored a run in the first inning then opened their lead further in the second inning on a three-run home run by Darrell Huffman.

Springfield, Mo. — A six-run rally in the sixth inning gave Evangel a 9-8 win over MidAmerica Nazarene and a split in the doubleheader against the Pioneers.
The Crusaders took advantage of a bases loaded hit-batsman, a bases loaded walk, and an error that tied the game. Steve Miller got Evangel to within a run on a two-RBI single. Miller then scored the winning run on a steal of home plate.
Evangel improved to 19-18 on the season and 11-11 in the Heart of America conference. The Pioneers dropped to 16-19 and 8-14.
