Crusaders Look To Maintain Hold On First Place

Evangel enters tonight’s doubleheader in first place in the Heart of America conference with a 10-1 league record. They lead Central Methodist by a half-game in the standings but own a three-game lead in the loss column as the Eagles are 12-4. Evangel has won six straight entering tonight’s games.

Lindenwood has won four of the six conference games they have played. They swept a doubleheader against Graceland last night and have won seven straight entering tonight’s games. Lindenwood plays Missouri Valley tomorrow.

Today’s Starters

Kimberly Williams will be one the starting pitchers today…Williams has not lost a start since Mar. 10, a streak covering eight starts… She won her last start on Apr. 8 against Missouri: 6.1 inn, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 SO in a 6-3 Evangel win…The three runs and two earned runs were the most allowed by her since Mar. 14, a span covering five games…Williams is 2-0 with a 1.21 ERA in her last three starts…She was named HAAC Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 30-Apr. 5 going 2-0 in three starts with a 0.32 ERA and recording 20 strikeouts against 3 walks in 22 innings… Williams was also the HAAC Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 23-29 going 2-0 with 0.50 ERA in two games and recording 14 strikeouts with no walks…Has 88 strikeouts against 16 walks in 88.1 innings…Evangel is 12-3 in games Williams starts…Has a career record of 50-16 (.758)…Is a senior from Loveland, Colorado.

Anna McKinny will also make a start for Evangel…She will make her 17th appearance and 10th start of the season… McKinny won her last start on Apr. 8 against Missouri Valley: 7 inn, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO in a 6-1 Evangel win…Has not allowed an earned run in her last two games and 13 innings…Is 2-0 with a 0.39 ERA in her last three starts…Picked up a save on Mar. 14 against Benedictine…Was the HAAC Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 15-22 going 2-0 in three games with no runs and one hit allowed over  nine innings…Is 6-1 as a starter with a 1.72 ERA and 1-1 with 1 save and a 4.50 ERA as a reliever…Evangel is 8-1 in games she starts…Is a sophomore from New Hampton, Missouri.  

Spencer Sparkles

Kasey Spencer enters today’s game with a nine-game hitting streak and has gone 17 for 35 at the plate in her last 12 games for a .486 average. The freshman from Liberty, Missouri went 4 for 6 last Wednesday against Missouri Valley with 3 RBIs.
