Softball resumes suspended game vs. MNU

Springfield, MO — Evangel will resume a game that was suspended by rain on March 26 against MidAmerica Nazarene today on the Evangel University campus at 5 p.m. The game was halted by bad weather with the Lady Crusaders leading 3-1 in the bottom of the first inning.
Evangel will start play with runners and first and third base and two outs. Anna McKinny was the starting pitcher for Evangel in the game.
The Lady Crusaders (31-11, 16-3) can clinch the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season championship with a win or a Central Methodist loss as they play a doubleheader against Avila today. Evangel enters the day leading Central Methodist by 1.5 games as the Eagles are 14-4 in conference play.
MidAmerica Nazarene is in fifth place in the conference with a league record of 10-9 and are 26-20 overall.
Completing today’s game will end the regular season in the Heart of America conference. The conference tournament starts with the quarterfinal round best-of-three series played at the site of the higher conference seeds. Evangel has clinched home field advantage in the first round and can clinch home field throughout the playoffs with a win this today.
