Springfield, MO — The Evangel University baseball had five players named to the all-conference team in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Two players were named to the second team and three were named as honorable mention selections.
Shortstop Zach Farmer was a second team selection. The junior from Branson led Evangel in hitting and was ranked 10th in the conference with a .360 average. He also had a home run and 44 RBIs. DH Zach Johnson was also a second team All-HAAC pick. Johnson, a Willard product, hit .342 with 6 home runs and a league-leading 49 RBIs.
OF Brandon Scott (.318, 0 HR, 21 RBIs, 26 stolen bases), 1B Phil Reed (.325, 1 HR, 29 RBIs) and RHP Craig Penley (5-3, 4.34 ERA) were all named honorable mention all-conference selections.
Reed, a senior from Perrysburg, Ohio, was also awarded the HAAC Gold Glove for his defensive play at first base.
Evangel went 26-31 for the season with an 18-22 conference record and qualified for the HAAC postseason tournament marking their first postseason appearance in nine years.
