Softball Lands Seven On All-HAAC Team

Kendra Corbin Named Player of the Year

Springfield, Mo. — Evangel University outfielder Kendra Corbin was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year by league coaches this week. Corbin is also one of seven Crusaders named to the all-conference team as the Andrews, Texas native hit a league leading .470 and set a school record scoring 64 runs.

Senior pitcher Kimberly Williams was named the conference’s Pitcher of the Year. Williams was 15-4 with a 2.69 earned run average for the season and went undefeated during the conference regular season collecting sporting a 10-0 record and a 1.33 ERA in league games. She finished her college career with a record of 55-17.

Lady Crusaders head coach Jerry Breaux was named Co-Coach of the Year in the conference marking the sixth time in his career he has been honored by the league.

In addition to Corbin and Williams being named first team selections to the All-HAAC softball other first team selections from Evangel include senior DP / OF Breanna Canclini (.406, 13 HRs, 51 RBIs), and junior 1B Megan Cairns (.402, 2 HR, 30 RBIs).

Evangel junior outfielder Jazzy Lopez (.340, 3 HR, 30 RBIs) was a second team all-conference selection. Honorable mention selections were freshman C Kasey Spencer (.301, 3 HR, 29 RBIs) and sophomore RHP Anna McKinny (9-4, 3.08 ERA).

The Lady Crusaders finished the season with a 34-13 record.
