Kara Blankenship Named HAAC Player of the Week

Springfield, MO – Evangel University women’s basketball forward Kara Blankenship was named Heart of America conference Player of the Week for Nov. 8-15.

Blankenship, a sophomore from Republic, Missouri, averaged 18.3 points, 9 rebounds and 2.3 steals in three games last weeks. Blankenship scored a career high 25 points in Evangel’s season opening win over 15^th ranked Southern Nazarene on Nov. 9. She registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds against Ecclesia (Ark.) on Nov. 14. Blankenship shot 58.6% from the field on 17 for 29 shooting and went 20 for 25 from the free line during the week.

The award marks the third time Blankenship has won that honor. She was named conference player of the week twice last season.

Evangel is 3-0 and is at home on Tuesday against John Brown (Ark.) University for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Ashcroft Center.
