For more than half a century, Evangel has been preparing students to make a positive difference in this world. Testimonies that are shared by alumni as well as parents, grandparents and other family members of our former students, speak of the excellent preparation for life that Evangel students receive.
The Family and Friends organization offers an excellent opportunity for those who want to support Christian higher education in general and Evangel University in particular. That support is expressed through consistent prayer and in faithfully telling others the good story about Evangel.

Greetings! This fall, the 2008-2009 academic year will begin. This summer the Evangel campus will be filled with activities when we host several athletic and cheerleading camps. In addition, students will be enrolled in two sessions of summer school. We are prepared for another record attendance in the fall 2008. We look forward to many great events during the school year.
As the director of University Relations, I am the coordinator of a wonderful organization called the Association of Evangel University Family and Friends. This group consists of all parents of both new, returning and graduated students as well as other friends of Evangel. As a communications group we want you to know how valuable your input is to our University family. We join with other friends in this auxiliary organization to promote the University through special programs, projects, and activities.
All parents are invited to join us for move-in day activities in August and for Homecoming in October.
- Family and Friends move - in morning refreshments - Local members of the Family and Friends will serve refreshments in the lobby of each residence hall Friday morning, August 22, to families and volunteers from the community who are assisting students moving into the dorms.

An opportunity to meet you - On Saturday August 23rd at 9 AM there will be a special parent meeting in the chapel.
As the Director of the Family and Friends, I will be there to share with you about our AEUFF prayer connection.
I will also tell you of other great opportunities so parents may stay in touch with the EU campus throughout the school year.At that time you may also get your student an application to the area A/G Credit Union banking services.
- Homecoming - Homecoming weekend, October 9-11, is a highlight of the school calendar. We will host hundreds of our alumni and friends. Please plan to come and celebrate the weekend of activities with us.
- Homecoming Family and Friends luncheon - One event is a special luncheon for Family and Friends Friday, October 10 at noon. This event is $5; we will send a reservation card in a separate mailing to all parents. After the luncheon, alumni, students, families and friends will join together for the evening presentations and silent auction.
I look forward to seeing you on August 22 and 23. I am thrilled to meet you, because as a parent of a 2007 graduate, I realize first hand the joys you are about to experience. Look over our web pages and see the variety of activities our organization offers. We have everything from our student hospitality program to our EU Prep for youngsters. Dear Parents,
As Director of Retention my focus is on helping our students be successful in their college careers and to persist to graduation. One of the main ingredients in this recipe for success is a student who feels supported by his family as he achieves his academic goals.
You play an essential role in your student’s success. Here is a quick checklist of things you can do to help ensure your student’s success:
- Pray daily for your student.
- Show interest in what your student is doing.
- Believe in your student. Be his cheerleader.
- Trust your student, as parental trust builds self-confidence.
- Listen to your student and provide feedback, but resist the urge to solve problems for him.
- Encourage your student to balance his college experience by getting involved in extra-curricular campus activities.
- Encourage your student to know what services the campus offers and to take advantage of them. This list includes tutors, test anxiety strategies, the wellness center, and the fitness center, to name just a few.
I hope these tips are useful during the time your student is at Evangel. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance to you or your student.

As campus pastor, please allow me to welcome you and your student to the Evangel University "family". We are delighted that God has led you to select EU for your child's educational experience.
You will soon discover that the EU "experience" includes every aspect of necessary development: academic, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual. This last area is, of course, the primary focus of my campus responsibilities. We endeavor to assure spiritual growth in our students through relevant chapel worship services, student-led residence hall devotions, opportunities for Christian ministry/service, and full-time pastoral care that includes our availability for prayer, counseling, etc.

Welcome, parents of our newest incoming class. God has created each of your sons and daughters for a very special purpose. My hope is that your students, during their four or so
years at Evangel University, will discover their strengths and develop their full potential.
My vision is that as graduates they will be mature and competent, Spirit-empowered "change-agents" for the Kingdom of God, using the leadership opportunities afforded them by their Evangel education to be positive influences in their world for the cause of Christ. That is why Evangel University exists. To that end we focus all of our Student Development resources, including the residence life programs, discipleship ministries, student activities, counseling and health services, academic support, career development, and--yes, even our accountability program that encourages adherence to Evangel's community behavioral and dress standards.

Thank you for taking the time to look at what all Evangel has to offer in Christian higher education.
Getting to Evangel was a tough road for me. I did not know what I wanted to major in and most all of my friends suggested going somewhere else. I knew that God had other plans though. After praying long and hard about it, I chose to go to Evangel. Since day one here I have constantly been reaffirmed that I made the right choice. God has been so good to me here.
It feels like Evangel has welcomed me in as part of their family. I am honored and privileged to have been elected in as the 2008-2009 Student Body President. I am so thankful for this opportunity to serve Evangel’s student body.
If you haven’t already, you should come visit our campus. Get the feel of the university and see exactly what it is like. I know that it will be well worth your time.
