For more than half a century, Evangel has been preparing students to make a positive difference in this world. Testimonies that are shared by alumni as well as parents, grandparents and other family members of our former students, speak of the excellent preparation for life that Evangel students receive.
The Family and Friends organization offers an excellent opportunity for those who want to support Christian higher education in general and Evangel University in particular. That support is expressed through consistent prayer and in faithfully telling others the good story about Evangel.
Thank you for reviewing the material on this website and carefully considering the opportunity to join with others in sharing the Evangel story.
Sincerely,

Robert

Dear Parents,
As Director of Retention my focus is on helping our students be successful in their college careers and to persist to graduation. One of the main ingredients in this recipe for success is a student who feels supported by his family as he achieves his academic goals.
You play an essential role in your student’s success. Here is a quick checklist of things you can do to help ensure your student’s success:
I hope these tips are useful during the time your student is at Evangel. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance to you or your student.
Sincerely,
Becky Spain
Director of Retention
Welcome, parents of our newest incoming class. God has created each of your sons and daughters for a very special purpose. My hope is that your students, during their four or so
years at Evangel University, will discover their strengths and develop their full potential.
My vision is that as graduates they will be mature and competent, Spirit-empowered "change-agents" for the Kingdom of God, using the leadership opportunities afforded them by their Evangel education to be positive influences in their world for the cause of Christ. That is why Evangel University exists. To that end we focus all of our Student Development resources, including the residence life programs, discipleship ministries, student activities, counseling and health services, academic support, career development, and--yes, even our accountability program that encourages adherence to Evangel's community behavioral and dress standards.
Please feel free to call on me if I can assist you or your students.
Sincerely,
David

The Apostle Paul wrote, "we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Eph. 2:10, NIV).
As our children grow, we invest time, energy, creativity, money, and effort into their lives. We pray for them to become all that God has purposed for their lives.
In a similar fashion, the Evangel University family seeks to provide our students with more than an academic education. Our goal is to help our students grow stronger physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. As new students begin their journey through the Evangel experience, the Spiritual Life Department will be actively involved in developing their spiritual maturity and connecting a growing faith to their newfound learning.
Ultimately, we see ourselves as trustees of God's most valuable resource: people. Your children are God's workmanship, and we stand ready to help them acquire the tools necessary to fulfill His purposes for their lives.
Please continue to pray for your student and for the entire Evangel University family.
If the Spiritual Life Department can be of service to you or your student, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Pastor John Farquhar Plake
Campus Pastor & Director of Spiritual Life
Greetings! On behalf of the entire student body at Evangel University, let me say, welcome.
I know that the administration, faculty and myself are all thrilled that your sons and daughters have chosen to make Evangel University their academic home for undergraduate studies.
Coming to Evangel has always been somewhat of a longstanding tradition in my family. When I came to Evangel University three years ago as a freshman, I was the 13th person in my family to do so. Don't get me wrong. My decision to attend EU was not one that was forced upon me or something that was expected of me. My decision to come to Evangel was made when I was still a junior in high school, while I was staying at Evangel for a weekend visit. As soon as I stepped foot on this campus, I knew that this was a place where I would grow and flourish, not only in my relationships with other students, but most importantly, in my relationship with God. Out of all of the other colleges I had visited, this one was the only one where I felt that the students, faculty and staff, genuinely cared about the fact that I was here.
Fast forward several years later and here I am, going into my senior year at Evangel University as the Student Body President. My main goal as Student Body President is that I serve the students of Evangel in any and every way possible. I am in this position because I have realized that this is a part of the plan that God has for my life. I am reminded of the passage in Jeremiah 29 that talks about the fact that God knows the plans He has for us and that they are plans of prosperity and hope. This is not to say that we will never face hardships or have trials, but just as James 1 says, "the testing of your faith develops perseverance." When we put our trust in God and fully rely on Him, he will give us the desires of our heart. While your sons and daughters are here at Evangel University, I can guarantee that they will grow spiritually and academically into the men and women of God that He has called them to be.
Something else that I have learned during my time at Evangel is that this is a very fun campus. You cannot devote too much time to academics or too much time to extracurriculars. There needs to be a balance between the two. With the extensive number of extracurricular clubs and organizations that Evangel has, it will be no problem for your sons and daughters to find an avenue to get plugged into and meet people outside of the classroom as well.
Parents get ready, because this year is going to be one of best years of your son or daughter's life.
Once again, let me say welcome and thank you for making Evangel University your child's new academic home.
Sincerely,
Joe Montanez
