College students are often thrust into a strange new environment far from home, family and friends. You can help welcome our students.
You can connect with students that have the same interests as you or from the same hometown. We will create a match for you based on the information you provide.
Once the match has been made, host families will regularly invite students to an event or to their homes (maybe for a meal or just to hang out). Students who cannot travel home for holidays are especially encouraged to sign up so that they will have a host family for those occasions.
University Relations will serve as the liaison between the Family & Friends and area ministers who will assist in the recruitment of host families. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please fill out the student hospitality form.

Invite students to lunch
Each year families from local Springfield churches open their homes to students through the Family and Friends sponsored Student Hospitality Program.
This can help you ease into your new surroundings while making lifelong connections. Getting out of the dorm occasionally and going to a home, restaurant or activity with a local family can be a great blessing
Such things as majors, gender and hometowns will be considered in helping place you with a local family. Often students find jobs and church ministry opportunities through this program.
Please fill out the student application to get connected. After submitting the application, you will be sent a confirmation email.
If you have further questions, please email University Relations or call 865-2815 ext. 7436 for more info.
