Evangel University

Founders FAQ's

If I am awarded one of the Founders Scholarships, am I eligible to receive other scholarships from Evangel University?

A student who is awarded a Founders Scholarship is eligible for any scholarship offered by Evangel University for which he or she may qualify, except for the other academic scholarships, i.e. the Presidential, Academic Achievement, and EU Honor scholarships.

How many scholarships are awarded?

2 full-tuition and 10 half-tuition awards are made yearly and are renewable up to 4 years (or 8 semesters). (Please note that room, board, miscellaneous fees and books are not included.)

How many applicants are invited to interview?

In the past, approximately 30 students have been invited each year to interview for a Founders Scholarship. This is subject to change.

What if I decide to wait a year before pursuing higher education after high school?

The student must meet the basic GPA and scoring requirements from his/her senior year of high school to be eligible for a Founders Scholarship. There can only be one year between high school graduation and college admission for purposes such as, but not limited to, Master’s Commission, short-term mission trip, or study-abroad opportunities. Transfer students are not eligible to apply.  Scholarship deferral is not allowed; the student must apply for the scholarship corresponding to the fall semester in which they intend to enroll at Evangel University.

What are the continuation criteria?

This scholarship may be renewed for a total of eight semesters at Evangel University, provided that the student maintains a minimum cumulative Evangel grade point average of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale. Satisfactory academic progress is reviewed at the end of each academic year, and eligibility is determined by the cumulative Evangel grade point average. In addition, the student must be enrolled for and maintain full-time status (12 credits/semester or more) or the scholarship will be forfeited.

How long are the interviews?

Group interviews are approximately 30 minutes and individual interviews are 15-20 minutes.

What should I wear?

Present yourself at your very best. The Thursday evening reception is casual. For Friday, suits are recommended, but not required.

May my family attend?

Yes. Portions of the day on Friday are for candidates only, but Evangel invites parents to participate in other activities (tour of campus, professor visits, chapel, luncheon, parent session, financial aid session).
