Ta-Da! I survived Christmas break through perilous ice conditions. Okay maybe they weren’t that bad, but being in Springfield has made me forget the glory winter months of Omaha, Nebraska. Apparently my head is not screwed on tightly (as told to me by my mother) as I did not bring home my winter coat, or really any coat for that matter. I tried explaining to her that nothing more could have possibly fit in my suitcase beyond my dirty laundry and the laundry simply had to be done! I think eventually she might have possibly understood my logic. So now I am back in Springfield with a sore screwed on head, mittens, a scarf, and a very warm coat! My classes have started, and I could not be happier with my decision to switch majors! But that is not the best news because it gets way better! I get the opportunity to travel to France and Belgium this summer for a French Culture class with one of the Humanities professors! We will be traveling all over both countries and visiting every kind of historical site you could possibly think of! The best part of it is that I get 3 credits for going! That is one really awesome thing about Evangel; they have amazing short-term and long-term study abroad options not to mention mission trips! Mission trips are a whole other story that I can’t get started on because I’m running out of room! Oh, and just in case you were wondering coming back from Christmas break is the best because you end up missing your friend like a hot dog misses a bun! So until Mid-term exams have a fabulous school year!

Well, first off I can not believe how fast this semester has flown by and that my first set of college classes are almost completed! Some of my classes were a challenge so it will feel good to have them off of my shoulder, but I’m going to miss seeing all the people I saw regularly! Also, I’m changing my major next semester to International/Multicultural Studies, which is exciting because it requires a study abroad! I can’t wait to go home though because all my friends that went off to different colleges will be home also! Oh, and just a note to anyone who is about to enter college life, DO LAUNDRY AT SCHOOL! I know you don’t want to, nobody does, but from experience I can tell you that if you wait until you go home every other month or so it becomes more of a hassle then it is worth! Plus I don’t think Mothers appreciate it much when you come home with seven loads of laundry. I of course am not speaking from experience! Oh, and on another tangent, one thing fun about finals is dead day (see picture below)! Well until later then! I hope everyone gets a puppy for Christmas!

Okay, so I have officially been in college three months and I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by! Finals are coming up soon and this semester is about to wrap up! CRAZY! I’m excited though because this semester has been so fun and Evangel feels like home! Christmas break is going to be amazing but I know that I will be ready for school to start back up again in January. So far my favorite things have been the girls on my floor. Everyone warned me that living with a roommate would be a huge adjustment to having grown up with my own room, but GUESS WHAT? I have the most amazing roommate in the world. During Spirit week we both dressed up in grandma sweaters for eighties day, which was definitely a good time! Lucky me already had a grandma sweater because I was a huge fan of the sequins. Also I am involved with floor council which means that I get make all the signs for our floor events like “Roommate-A-Date.” I love how Evangel offers ways for almost anyone to get involved! I hope all of you have an amazing Christmas and that college decisions aren’t stressing you out too much! God Bless!

Haay, My name is Kathryn Fischer, but most people call me Katie or Fisch. I am from Omaha, Nebraska, but I like to call it Homaha. I just wrapped up my first month at Evangel, and oh my word it has been so much fun! Already I am falling in love with it. The teachers are some of the most genuine and caring people that I have ever met. All of the girls on my floor have some of the most insanely fun times, we seriously laugh at everything, in a good way. My roommate and I stay up way too late, but we just can’t help it. Let’s just say that my facebook has gotten albums and albums of new photos. I wasn’t so sure about coming here In the first place, not that I didn’t think it was a good school and everything, it was just that a lot was going on with my family, my brother was getting married, my older sister was having her fourth baby, one of my younger sisters was going to be a freshmen in high school, and I really wanted to be there for it all. Having seven siblings, most all of them residing in Omaha, I had a lot to leave behind, but it was well worth it. I can already tell that I am maturing in all the right ways, but I am goofier than ever. So here’s a quick preview of how I ended up here…
It was my junior year of high school and this college that I had never heard of kept calling me. The first time they called I thought, no way was I interested in coming to a small Christian college in the middle of I so thought nowhere, Missouri. But apparently the Lord has a sense of humor. They kept aggressively recruiting me, by calling, emailing, and talking to my mom. When I thought I had everything figured out regarding college, my youth pastor approached me about going on a campus visit to this school called Evangel. Ahha, I then remembered that was the name of that college that had kept on calling me. I decided that since I would be missing some school, the trip would be well worth it. So here I came, I visited, and I left. When I got back I told my mom that it was an amazing school but I still thought that it was too expensive and I would prefer go to my state college. But usually when my mom has a feeling about something she is right, and through a series of events, I ended up here. And guess what? I wouldn’t trade what I am experiencing right now for anything in the world!
