Hey everybody, last couple of weeks until finals is upon us and I am almost done with my first year of college. Kind of crazy thinking about how the time has flown by, but it has been a great time here so far with lots of great memories. One of the more memorable things was over Easter break I went with a group of people to a friend’s house in Illinois to visit the other Springfield. It was a great time with lots of great food, some games on the Wii, and we also played a song at my friend’s church. Then it was right back to the books back here on campus. I do of course find time to hang out and here is picture of some friends and I suited up for some laser tag action. It was guys versus girls, and I’m pretty sure the guys won both rounds, can’t quite rememberJ. After that we went to a local coffee shop, the Potter’s House, to play some games and grab some drinks. Spring has arrived here in Missouri, and as it gets nicer out it keeps getting harder to concentrate on my school work for some reason. Coming up in these next couple of weeks I am looking forward to some things beside the end of the school year though. In a few weeks is Spring Fling and the theme is Disney, and I am sure it’s going to be a good time.

Hey there everybody, winter break was an awesome time back in good old New York. I got to see all my friends from school and church and of course my family. For Christmas my aunt and uncle came over with my new 5 month old cousin, babies always seem to make family time more fun. Kind of made me jealous though considering that all you did when you were a baby was eat and sleep. My friends and I also found some time for game nights to play Cranium, which was a ton of fun. But now I am back for my second semester and it’s going pretty good. I am finally realizing however that being a music major is a lot more work than I expected. Finding time to practice is tough, but rewarding. On another note the basketball team here is doing awesome and just won the other night against the defending champions. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the end of the season.

November 2007

Hey everybody. It has been awhile since I have posted a blog, but it has been busy for me. Just a little while ago I went to my first Harvest Fest and it was a great time. Now the guys are supposed to ask the girls to go with them creatively. Now this was a little bit of a problem for me because I am not a very creative person. Fortunately, I do know how to play guitar, so I made up a little song that I like to call “Hey There Alicia.” Maybe I’ll put it on youtube one of these days so everybody can check it out. But it was a lot of fun, there was a lot of funny videos made by students and a bunch of bands that performed. Here’s a picture of me and some of my friends at Harvest Fest. The other guy is my roommate, Joe. You can’t really see, but just trust me, my afro is way better than his.

We also had a costume party at work recently and all of us were divided into two teams. My team made some shirts because we decided to dress as telephone super-heroes. It sounds weird I know, but it was cool. Here’s a picture of all of us in the awesome costumes we made.

That’s been some of the stuff going on here on campus. The football games and basketball games have been a lot of fun too. I’m excited for basketball season, one reason being that the games will be a little warmer. I play trumpet in the Pep Band, and cold mouthpieces are not fun. Intramural basketball has also started up here at Evangel and I’m pretty sure that my floor is going to dominate.

Hey everybody, this is Ricardo, but some people call me Ricky. It reminds me of I Love Lucy so I don’t mind. I’m from Watertown, New York, which is about an hour north of Syracuse and I am a freshman music industry major here at Evangel. So Evangel…… what to say first? Life’s definitely changed a lot for me these last couple of weeks. Finally being on my own, and having to take care of myself. But Evangel has definitely made it worth it, so many new people from so many different walks of life makes it a lot of fun meeting new people. I’ve met so many people that are interested in the same things as me that it’s been super easy to connect. Me being a music guy myself I’ve already had some jam sessions with some of the guys on campus, and I’m planning on having many more. The music facility here is awesome, and it’s always open so that I can go in there and rock out. I’m currently taking guitar lessons with a professor who has been playing for I think 100 years he said, nah I’m just kidding. But I do feel like I’ve learned so much already, even though I’ve only been here a couple of weeks. While it is hard being so far away from my parents, and my kid brother and sister, all of the awesome people here have made it a lot easier. All of the faculty care about you as an individual, and they make sure to let you know that they are there if you need anything. You definitely don’t have to worry about any boring days; there is a ton of stuff to get involved with on and off campus. My floor just had our first intramural football game this week and we were able to come out with a win, so I’m looking forward to next week. Well now that you’ve used up a good two minutes of your life reading this you should probably get back to you homework or something. And if you weren’t doing homework, then go do something fun for me, because I think I’m going to have to go take care of some homework.
