I am truly a pastor’s kid because this is how I spent my Spring Break… First of all, I went to the Alabama Speed the Light Grand Club Banquet in which Jay Mooney spoke. It was an amazing night and I got to see many people that I haven’t seen in a while.  My home church has a Christian school, and I helped in different classrooms all week. Since I am going to be a teacher pretty soon, I absolutely loved this part! I also attended a Teen Challenge Banquet with my family. You must believe that I am pastor’s kid by now…Finally, my church had scheduled an outreach for the day before I was to leave. Of course, I was there! There were many people helping our community that day by delivering lunches to our police department, rescue squad, and other businesses; bagging groceries at local grocery stores; and washing police cars. My group bagged groceries and dropped a church DVD in each customer’s bag. I have always wanted to work in a grocery store, and well it came true for about four hours. It was an amazing experience in which I was able to give back! My Spring Break though unconventional was unforgettable.

Last weekend, Alex, Micah, and I went home with a friend (Miranda) to Branson, MO. She lives in the mountains, and it was absolutely beautiful. On Friday, her mom cooked an amazing meal and I felt like I was right at home. We watched a movie, and laughed a lot! On Saturday, I slept late and woke up to a huge breakfast. Then, we were off to go shopping. We went to many stores, and had so much fun! While we were shopping, Auntie Anne’s were celebrating their 20th anniversary, so we got free pretzels. Perfect timing- haha! That weekend, I felt as if I was “at home” which was perfect!

So…I have been going to classes, working, and watching “Lost.” My friends and I watched the entire first season in one week, let’s just say they are addictive. Spiritual Emphasis week is going on, and today we had sessions about forgiveness instead of classes. I went to a session called “New Day” and it dealt with forgiving students as a teacher. It was very interesting. We have another  service tonight, and I am excited about what is God is going to do!

January 2008

Hello again!
I am just getting back in the routine of school…studying and writing papers again for a while. My break is over- HAHA! While I was home in Alabama, I went to the beach and hardly wore a jacket so I am slowly getting use to the cold weather as well. I am excited about this semester!  My brother, Seth, has a lot of home games which are amazing!  EU24 is going to be so… much fun, and I can’t wait to meet KJ52! HAHA! Well, I must tell ya I am loving school and can’t wait to see what the semester holds.

November 2007

Hey everyone!

Homecoming was so much fun this year! We had dress up days, a pep rally, and floor events the week before the game. My floor (L2N) all wore our t-shirts and took way too many pictures as you can see below. Midterms were over (I survived- thank God!), and it was time for Fall Break. I was so… excited about going to “Sweet Home Alabama.”  It was a road trip that I will never forget. My sister, two girls from Alabama (Alex and Brooke), and I drove 11 hours for the long weekend. We laughed and drank way too much coffee! Starbucks stops were necessary of course- haha!! My sister and I spent the weekend hanging out with the fam and loved being at First Assembly, Ashland on Sunday! I absolutely love hearing my dad preach.

Once the weekend was over, it was time to go back to school. My brother’s (Seth) basketball games started soon after. My friends and I made t-shirts for CBC’s first game. Take a look at them below.  I am not going to tell you how long it took us because well it probably doesn’t look like it- haha! We laughed a lot and were proud to wear “Alabama loves #40.” We wear our t-shirts to every home game which probably embarrasses Seth.

On Thanksgiving, my family came here to Springfield because Seth played in a tournament that weekend. My dearest mom cooked lunch at my brother’s apartment on Thursday. We were not “at home” but still had so… much fun as a fam! After Thanksgiving break, final papers and projects added up. It is crazy busy but only a few more weeks of homework until I get a 3 week break! YAY! This semester has been my favorite since I have been at EU. I absolutely love the girls on my floor!!  It seems weird that in two weeks, “I’ll be home for Christmas.” It has gone way too fast, but crazy fun too. I want to wish you a Merry Christmas!!!

October 2007

I never dreamed that I would be in Springfield, MO at Evangel University and having the time of my life! I truly believe that God has called me here for such a time as this. I grew up in an Assemblies of God pastor’s home in the small town of Ashland, AL. My family is extremely close; I have an older brother (Seth) and a younger sister (Micah). Just about a year and a half ago, Seth decided to attend and play basketball at Central Bible College which is here in Springfield. Micah and I quickly decided to follow him. I did not know much about Evangel and had never been to Springfield, MO. This took place in July and school started in August. There was no time to visit, Micah and I definitely took a step of faith and it was well worth it! From the beginning of the application process until arriving at EU to move in, God worked everything out. I knew that EU was the place for me. I am sitting here trying to describe the feeling, and all I can say is that it was an overwhelming peace. My first year at Evangel was one I will never forget. The friends I made, everything I learned, and experiencing college with Seth and Micah made it unforgettable. I am currently a junior majoring in elementary education/ middle school with a concentration in social studies and very excited that His way is perfect!
