Churches
Many Evangel students carpool with fellow students to church on Sundays and Wednesdays. Take a look at a few churches in Springfield:
- Central Assembly of God — A church with international ministries and events.
- Evangel Temple — A church that has a separate Sunday morning service for college students!
- James River Assembly of God — A top priority is supporting missions organizations and missionaries.
- North Point Church — Sending over 1,000 people overseas to 21 countries on over 80 trips this year.
- Park Crest/Calvary Temple — Churches with specific services for Pacific Islanders and those with a Spanish speaking background.

Time Difference
You might have to adjust to time differences if your family still lives overseas. Springfield, Missouri is on Central Time. Central Time is subject to Daylight Savings. Please ask about Daylight Savings when you arrive on campus.
Transportation
Get ready to drive on the right side of the road and stop at red lights (because it’s the law here). Make sure to give yourself time to get a driver’s license and car insurance if you plan on having a car on campus. You will register your car either in your home state or here in Missouri. You will also register your car on campus and receive a sticker to put on your car. There is plenty of parking near the Residence Halls.
Weather
In Springfield, you will get to experience the variety of the seasons. There is the warmth and sun of summer, the colors and beauty of fall, the frost and chill of winter, and the vibrant life of spring.
Shorts and t-shirts are perfect for hot, summer months. Light jackets and jeans are useful for the fall. For the winter, bring a heavy coat, gloves, a hat and a scarf.
All of the residence halls on campus are equipped with air conditioning and heat to accommodate changes in temperature.
