General Graduate Studies Admissions Policy
General admission and degree requirements for graduate studies are determined by the Graduate Studies Council. Careful consideration is given to all applicants. The primary factors reviewed are undergraduate records, recommendations from academic and professional references, adherence to Evangel's values, and the scores on entrance exams.
Admission is based on the following criteria:
- An official transcript verifying that the applicant has earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- A grade point average of 3.0 or better in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work, or during the last two years as full-time undergraduate or graduate student
- Official results of the required entrance exam
- Letters of recommendation from the appropriate professionals as required by the program of interest
Procedure
A student seeking admission to graduate studies must file with the Graduate Admissions Office:

Admission means only that the student will be permitted to enroll for courses in the various graduate programs. It does not imply that the graduate student will be accepted for candidacy (see catalog).
Advancement to Candidacy Status
Students admitted to a program of study must apply for candidacy after completion of 15 credit hours of graduate course work at Evangel University. Requirements for program candidacy are given in the graduate studies catalog.
Graduate Transfer Credit
With approval of the Graduate Studies Council, a student may transfer a maximum of 10 credits required in the student's program from another accredited institution.
Special Student Admission
Students who do not wish to work toward a graduate degree, but seek to take graduate courses at Evangel University, may enter as a nondegree seeking student. If they choose to pursue a degree later, not more than 12 credits taken as a nondegree seeking student may be applied to the student's degree requirements.
Time Limits
All degree requirements must be completed within five years from the date of admission. A student who interrupts the sequence of study may be subject to changes in requirements when returning. Transfer credits must comply with the five-year statute of limitations.
