Dr. Robert Berg
Bob Berg was raised in the New York City area and received degrees from Wheaton College, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Drew University. As an ordained minister, he has served on pastoral staffs in New York and Arkansas. He is Professor of New Testament and since 1989 has also taught courses at Evangel in theology, hermeneutics, church history, and Greek.
His wife, Jane, holds a masters degree in voice and is an assistant professor and director of the opera program at Evangel. She is also the part-time director of Springfield Regional Opera. They have one son, David, who is eighteen.
Bob grew up in the Assemblies of God and, like many others, came to associate “call” with church work. Businessmen, nurses, math teachers, and police officers certainly were Christians, but they were not in “the ministry” like pastors and missionaries. So he has been thrilled to find a home at Evangel, where we affirm that all Christians are in ministry and have a distinctive call of God. As Director of LifeWorks, he is able to devote all his energy to communicating this truth that he has taught in the classroom for many years.
