Who They Are:
Beginning in September each year, over 70,000 junior and senior high school students begin preparing their entries for the District and National Fine Arts Festivals. Students may enter as many as 35 of the 52 categories offered in 7 main divisions: Art, Communication, Drama, Exhibition, Instrumental, Vocal, and Writing.
Vision:
Fine Arts Festival is a discipleship tool of national youth ministries designed to "help students discover and develop their ministry gifts." "Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19) As Youth leaders, our call is to win, build and send.

Who They Are:
The CftB offers a wide variety of Christian resources for blind children and adults. With blindness and vision impairments on the increase in the United States, the need for the CftB grows daily.
Opportunities Available:
Volunteer readers record books, periodicals and Sunday school literature. Other volunteers duplicate tapes, prepare books for Braille, translate and proof read Braille, and do many other tasks. Last year volunteers put in over 5000 hours. They play a vital role in the success of this ministry.

National Girls Ministries

Who They Are;
National Girls Ministries provides leaders who have a heart for girls and their development into becoming strong Christian women. NGM works out of primarily churches.

Who They Are:
Statistics show that the children of prisoners are six to seven times more likely to be incarcerated as adults, five times more likely to enter the foster-care system and a vast majority live in poverty. The SHAPES mentoring programs focus is to socially, psychologically and relationally mentor the children of incarcerated parents, so that each child has an aggressive opportunity to not fall prey to these statistics. Shapes is an exciting opportunity to positively affect the lives of children often marginalized by society.

  1. Interns would help with processing applications and placement of mentors with children of incarcerated parents
  2. Mentors who could commit 1 hour of time per week to mentor a child of an incarcerated parent. They will work around school schedules.

Who They Are:
Big Brothers, Big Sisters’ missions is to enhance a child's self esteem and outlook for the future by, facilitating a positive one-to-one relationship with an adult role model with measurable impact and providing financial assistance for personal and scholastic needs
Opportunities Available:

  1. After School Mentor: Help children feel good about themselves and develop the skills they need to succeed in school. Mentors meet with their assigned students (grades pre-school – 6th) one hour a week after school for the length of one school year—starting September 15th for the length of one school year. Volunteer times/ days vary depending on which school is chosen.
  2. Meal Time Buddy: Provide children who attend local Boys and Girls Clubs with a meal time partner (Big Buddy) and friend one hour a week for the length of a school year. “Buddies” share a meal and participate in activities on their choice.

** After School Mentors and Meal Time Buddies must bet at least 16 years old, have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide their own transportation. Neither Mentor nor Big Buddy meet with their child during holidays or during finals week. Please join us, make a difference in the life of a child! **

Who They Are:
JRA is an Assemblies of God church in the Ozark area. Ministry is meeting someone else's need in a real way. At JRA we are dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and families in every way possible.
Opportunities Available:
These are ministries through JRA.

  1. Benevolence: Benevolence provides a variety of help to the JRA family and community including, single moms, widows and spouses of deployed troops. They also coordinate several major work projects such as Project Partnership (a public school makeover) and an Extreme Home Makeover. In addition, they also assist people in need throughout the year.
  2. Constructors in Action: Constructors In Action (CIA) assist JRA single moms, widows and spouses of deployed troops with minor home repairs. They also serve in major outreach events (like Extreme Makeover), local mission’s trips and retreat center workdays.
  3. Mechanics In Action: Mechanics In Action is a ministry focused on meeting the vehicle maintenance needs of single moms, widows and families in need.
  4. Prison Ministries: On a weekly basis, individuals and teams from James River are able to minister to those incarcerated in one of the area jails or prisons.

Who They Are: Missouri Mentoring Partnership (MMP) sites implement structured work site and community-based mentoring. Who We Are: The Southwest Center for Independent Living (SCIL) is a private, not-for-profit agency which was established in 1985 in Springfield, MO to provide services, advocacy, and resources for people with any disability in Southwest Missouri. Who They Are: The ELI offers five levels of study in core areas of writing, grammar, reading/vocabulary, academic listening skills, and speaking skills, as well as optional spelling and pronunciation classes. Through an intensive twenty-five hours per week, students have the opportunity to prepare for the language challenges of American classrooms. The focus of the English Language Institute, therefore, is to equip ESL students with the necessary language skills to achieve success in the degree program of their choice and to enhance their potential for future employment after graduation.

Mission:
Ozarks Food Harvest is the only food bank in southwest Missouri, serving more than 300 nonprofit members across 28 Ozarks counties. The Food Bank reaches more than 14,000 individuals weekly and distributes nine million pounds of food annually—this would not be possible without generous volunteers like YOU!

Opportunities:
The greatest need for volunteers is to help process food donations. Sort & repack projects involve checking expiration dates, sorting like items, and repacking for distribution. Food safety training is provided at the beginning of the session.  Tuesday Evening Groups assemble commodity food boxes for seniors. Ozark Food Harvest distributes 2,000 senior food boxes monthly across the Ozarks. Volunteer Sessions must be scheduled in advance. Please plan to stay for full 3 hour session. The youngest volunteer age allowed is 14.

Hours:
Mon.–Thu. Morning Session: 9 a.m. – noon Mon.–Thu. Afternoon Session:  Noon – 3 p.m.
Tue. and Thu. Evenings: 6 – 9 p.m.
Fri. Morning Session: 9 a.m. – noon
Sat.: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (First Sat. of the month is open to up to 20 individuals.)

Who They Are:
Sammy’s Window is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to help foster children enter the foster system with some sense of dignity, and to help foster parents with the transition. Sammy’s Window is affiliated with Victory Mission.

Opportunities:
Sorting and hanging clothing donations.
Stocking shelves.
Assisting foster children with finding clothing in their sizes.
