Job Title: User Application Specialist “Programmer”

Group: 9 (The pay range is $699.70 to $936.80 per week, with a starting range of $700 to $800)
Job Summary: Provides application programming development and software package support for computing system and PC users.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist users in meeting their processing schedules through training and direct involvement with computer applications and development as required.
- Prepare documentation, participate in system configuration, participate in capacity planning and implement office automation projects.
- Assist in training users as required and answer operational inquiries on a daily basis.
- Perform error analysis and takes corrective action following program or process failure.
- Works with all levels of university users to determine information processing needs and specifications.
- Develops new application to address user needs that are not met through package software.
- Uses package software tools and structure to meet user’s requirement.
- Modifies certain package software applications and reports to fulfill the needs of the user.
Qualifications:
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be capable of working independently and be able to take initiative.
- Must work well with customers (users) and with co-workers in Information Services.
- Must be able to perform effectively under stressful conditions (pressure from users regarding program operation, and from a heavy workload).
- Must be able to coordinate the implementation of OEM software into production.
- Must possess database/web program development skills and be able to diagnose process failure problems and take corrective actions through application adjustments.
Experience: One or more years of customer service oriented experience required. Programming experience in databases like SQL is needed, web html and asp/.net coding is a plus.
Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used:
- Incumbent will use Personal Computers with multiple database products and application design tools.
- Incumbent will be involved in application development and implementation planning for SQL and Microsoft 2003/2005.
- Incumbent will work with CAMS Enterprise software utilizing the noted tools and other development capabilities.
Starting Date: The successful applicant should be prepared to begin work on August 18, 2008.
