After taking an 11-day break for the Christmas holiday, the Lady Crusaders will play in the Warner Southern College Days Inn Tournament on Dec. 30 and 31. Warner Southern’s gymnasium was destroyed by tornadoes this year, so the tournament will be held at South Florida Community College in Avon Park, Fla. On Thursday, Dec. 30, Evangel will play the University of Mobile ( Ala.) at 1 p.m. On Friday, Oct. 31, the EU ladies will meet host Warner Southern at 3 p.m. All times are Central Time.
Evangel is 9-6 overall. The EU women are ranked No. 10 in the nation on the second regular season NAIA II poll of the year (Dec. 14). The Lady Crusaders’ most recent game was at No. 3-ranked (NAIA I) Southern Nazarene and the EU women lost 58-52. NaTasha Neal scored 30 points to lead the Lady Crusaders in the contest.
The University of Mobile is 8-2 and received votes on the Dec. 14 NAIA I national poll. The Lady Rams have won their last five games, including a 98-96 victory at home against Georgetown College on Dec. 19. Georgetown is ranked No. 7 in NAIA I.
Warner Southern College is 6-6. The Royals defeated Milligan College, 75-59, at home on Dec. 18.
The meetings between Evangel and the University of Mobile and Warner Southern College are the first.
Evangel is led by Leon Neal in his 11th year. Neal is 246-106. Neal needs four wins to reach the 250-win plateau.
Martha Gore-Algernon is the University of Mobile head coach. She is 173-126 in her tenth year.
Gary Bays leads the Warner Southern women. He is 39-37 in his third year.
Stephanie Lansdown pulled down six rebounds against Southern Nazarene on Dec. 18 to register a new season high. Her career high is eight boards against Baker (2-9-04) and Avila (2-26-04).
Debreon Davis controlled four rebounds in the Dec. 18 game at Southern Nazarene for a new season and careeer high.
Evangel’s scoring is led by NaTasha Neal (20.1), Shaletha Page (11.5) and Megan Bernardy (8.3). The rebound leaders are Neal (6.1), Bernardy (5.3) and Page (4.9). Neal and Garrison have 46 assists each. Kevina Carpenter leads the team in steals with 23 and Stephanie Lansdown has 21. Neal has made 52 of 125 3-pointers for a 41.6 percentage and has made 57 of 71 free throws for an 80.3 percentage.

Shaletha Page scored 16 points versus Avila on Nov. 16 to become the 16th Lady Crusader to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She is No. 11 on the all-time scoring list with 1,142 points.
NaTasha Neal scored 30 points in Evangel’s losing effort against Southern Nazarene on Dec. 18. She has scored 30 or more points ten times in her career, including a career-high 39 points versus Graceland on Feb. 7, 2004.

NaTasha Neal scored 29 points versus Benedictine on Dec. 6 to move into the No. 2 all-time scoring spot at Evangel. She has now scored 2,244 points. Neal moved past Katarzyna Dydek (1993-96), who had 2,160 points during her three-year career. Neal needs 503 points to become the all-time leading scorer at Evangel. The current record is 2,746 points by Teresa Marlowe-Friedrich (1984-88).
Neal is 33 3-pointers away from setting a new Evangel record for treys made in a career. The record is 273 by Camilla Hartzler (1990-94). Neal has 241.
Neal totaled six rebounds versus Washburn on Dec. 16 to move into the No. 7 all-time rebounding spot. Neal moved past Katarzyna Dydek, who had 720 during her three-year career (1993-96). Neal now has 727 career rebounds.
