
Evangel University PBL students Telina Palser and Michael Vandersteen earned first place in Business Ethics at the National PBL Conference in Nashville last weekend.

Elizabeth Fletcher was recognized as Missouri’s 2005-2006 Outstanding Local Adviser, and Bryan Newswander was recognized in Who’s Who in PBL at the National PBL Conference in Nashville. Fletcher is Evangel’s PBL adviser and chair of the Business and Economics Department; Newswander, a senior management major, is PBL National Vice President, North Central Region.

Springfield, MO. — Eleven Evangel University students competed at the National Phi Beta Lambda Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., last weekend and brought home two first-place awards.
“We are especially pleased to have won first place for Business Ethics,” said Elizabeth Fletcher, PBL adviser and chair of the Business and Economics Department. “This is the hot topic in the business world, and this is the second national trophy for Business Ethics that Evangel has won this year.”
Elizabeth Fletcher was also recognized as Missouri’s 2005-2006 Outstanding Local Adviser and received a cash award from the Wal-Mart Corporation.
Phi Beta Lambda is the college division of Future Business Leaders of America. With more than 240,000 members, FBLA-PBL is the largest student business organization the United States.
Before the students could compete at the national level, they first had to qualify at the state level. More than 1,700 students from colleges and universities nationwide were a part of this competition.
Bryan Newswander, who performed his final duties as national vice president -- North Central Region -- during the conference, was recognized in Who’s Who in PBL. He is a senior management major from Huxley, Iowa.
