SPRINGFIELD, MO. — The paintings of Judith Fowler, associate professor of art at Missouri State University, will be on display Oct. 6-31 in the Barnett Fine Arts Center at Evangel University. An opening reception will be Oct. 6 from 7-9 p.m.
There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.
Fowler has been teaching art for more than 35 years. She has exhibited paintings, drawings, etchings and watercolors in 150 national and regional competitions.
She is a registered art therapist with the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), and presents a seminar on “Art and Teaching” in cities across the U.S. and in Australia.
“My creative technique in making an image is very intuitive, and I enjoy letting the symbolic details surrounding an initial mark or figurative sketch emerge as I work the piece,” Fowler said in the AATA Journal.
Fowler also began the Art on Wheels campaign, a two-week project in which teachers, students, artists and paper companies filled 150 boxes with art supplies to give to Katrina victims in Louisiana last year.
She earned her master’s degree of fine arts from the University of Utah.
