SPRINGFIELD, MO. — Shirley Shedd, professor emeritus at Evangel University and former communication department chair, was honored on Sept. 16 by the Missouri Press Association for her accomplishments in journalism.
Steve Oldfield, president of the MPA, presented her with the plaque at the Lodge of the Four Seasons in Lake of the Ozarks. It reads, “The Missouri Press Association and Missouri’s Newspapers offer sincere congratulations to Shirley Shedd for her leadership and teaching skills these past 25 years at Evangel University and for her dedication to excellence in journalism as adviser to The Lance.”
Shedd taught at Evangel and was the adviser for the University’s award-winning newspaper, The Lance, for 25 years before she retired in May. She still teaches degree completion courses.
