Springfield, MO — Four Evangel University alumnae recently learned that research they compiled as graduate students has been accepted for publication in Pastoral Psychology, a peer reviewed journal sponsored by Princeton Theological Seminary.

Kelly McLeland, Katherine Weaks, Patricia Cogswell and Renee Miphouvieng completed their master’s of science degrees in clinical psychology at Evangel in 2006.

The research, titled “Does Gender Matter? An Exploration of Gender, Spirituality, Forgiveness, and Restoration Following Pastor Transgressions,” reports the results of two studies conducted during their first year of graduate school. The project was completed under the direction of Dr. Geoffrey W. Sutton, who has taught psychology at Evangel since 2001.

McLeland is currently working toward a doctorate in clinical psychology at Regent University. Weaks is a therapist at Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield, Mo., working for the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program. Cogswell is a supervisor in the Patient Access Department at St. John’s hospital in Springfield, Mo. Miphouvieng is working as a therapist in Irving, Texas.
