Harris Breaks Evangel’s Career Kills Record and Earns Conference’s Weekly Honor

Brittany Harris, a senior middle blocker on the Evangel volleyball team, has been selected as the Heart of America Athletic Conference player of the week. The honor is the second of the year for the 6-foot product of Delray Beach, Fla.

During the week of Oct. 1-7, Harris averaged 4.06 kills per game and had a 37.8 kill percentage. In the process, Harris set a new Evangel career record for kills with a total of 1,606. The previous mark was held by Kelly Hartley-Richardson (1,593 kills, 2001-03). Harris also had 29 blocks during the week.

This season, Harris has registered 417 kills and has a 35.5 kill percentage. In addition, Harris has averages of 3.9 kills and 1.5 blocks per game.

The Lady Crusaders (17-12, 2-3) will host conference school Missouri Valley College on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The junior varsity match will begin at 5:30 and the varsity match will follow at 7.
