For the fifth time in head softball coach Jerry Breaux’s career at Evangel, the Lady Crusaders have been honored for their classroom work by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The 2006 Evangel softball team finished No. 8 in the nation among NAIA Schools with a combined grade point average of 3.50. Among all divisions (NCAA I, II, III, and junior colleges), the 2006 EU women were ranked No. 19 in the nation.
The 2005 (3rd in NAIA), 2003 (9th), 2002 (2nd), and 1999 (4th) Evangel softball teams were also honored by the NFCA.
