Springfield, Mo. — The Next Generation: Contemporary Expressions of Faith, a traveling art exhibit featuring works by 27 artists, will be on display in the Barnett Fine Art Gallery at Evangel University Nov. 3-Dec. 8, 2006. The public is invited, and there is no charge to attend.

An opening reception will be held Friday, Nov. 3, 7-9 p.m.

The original exhibit, featuring works by 44 artists, premiered last fall at the Museum of Biblical Art in New York City www.mobia.org. A portion of that exhibit—including Ezekiel Scattering Hair [oil on canvas, 2002] by Evangel professor Michael Buesking—now travels to venues across the United States. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated scholarly catalog that includes the artists’ resumes and statements about their work.

About The Next Generation: Contemporary Expressions of Faith

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the founding of Christians in the Visual Arts www.civa.org, the exhibition takes an in-depth look at works, in all media, by 44 artists who have chosen to explore Judeo-Christian subjects and imagery. Organized by the Museum of Biblical Art in collaboration with CIVA, this exhibition is the first of the museum’s contemporary art triennials.
