Springfield, Mo. — Two Evangel University alumni recently published an article titled “Following Derailed Clergy: A Message of Healing for a Shocked Congregation.”
The article describes the problem of distress congregants experience following the shocking discovery of a pastor’s offense and offers suggestions on how church leadership can promote healing through a message of forgiveness, reconciliation and restoration. The authors describe the scope of the problem and present a four-phase model of forgiveness.
The full text of the article written by Geoffrey W. Sutton, Ph.D. (1972) and Eloise K. Thomas, M.S. (2006) is from the Minister’s Life and Ministry page of the Assemblies of God website.
