Springfield, Mo.— Two Evangel University Jazz Ensembles will be performing at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 10, in the Barnett Recital Hall.

The concert is free and open to the public.

On the first half of the program, the student Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Matt Warner, will perform Full Count, Morocco, It’s the Gospel Truth, Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, Song for Bilbao, and Take the “A” Train.

The second half of the program will feature the Faculty Jazz Ensemble performing jazz standards and arrangements of sacred music.

The Evangel University Jazz Ensemble, founded by Dr. Michael Kolstad in 1997, performs contemporary compositions as well as jazz classics and sacred jazz arrangements. The ensemble offers students of all majors the opportunity to experience jazz performance and a variety of jazz styles. Rehearsals provide a setting in which students can learn some of the finer points of improvisation, jazz history, and theory. In addition to regular concerts on campus, the Jazz Ensemble performs at churches, schools, workshops and festivals.

The Faculty Jazz Ensemble consists of Matt Warner, saxophone; Mike Burnette, vocals; Harry Beckett, piano; Clint Harrison, bass; and Robin Hendry, drums. Evangel student Aaron Girdner will substitute for Mr. Hendry in this concert.
