Springfield, Mo. — Violinist and Evangel University music faculty member, Dr. Larry Dissmore, will be the featured soloist when the Evangel University Orchestra presents its fall concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the University’s Chapel Auditorium.
There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend.
Dr. Dissmore will perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major. Professor John Shows, chair of the Music Department, will conduct the Mozart while Dissmore is performing as soloist.
In addition to the Mozart Violin Concerto, the Orchestra will perform the “Procession of the Nobles” by Rimsky-Korsakov and the Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky. Dr. Dissmore will return to the podium for the second half of the concert when the University Orchestra performs the Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5.

Biographical information about Dr. Larry Dissmore
Dr. Larry Dissmore joined the Evangel Music Faculty in 1988 as director of orchestras and professor of violin. In addition to his work at Evangel University, Dr. Dissmore regularly performs as the principal second violinist with the Springfield Symphony, is music director of the Springfield Youth Symphony, violinist with the Excelsis Trio and concertmaster of the Springfield Regional Opera Orchestra.
As a violin soloist, Dr. Dissmore has appeared with orchestras in Missouri, Kansas, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Past orchestral positions have included serving as concertmaster of the La Crosse (Wis.) Symphony, as a first violinist with the Wichita (Kan.) Symphony and Music Theatre Orchestras, and as a first violinist in the Rochester (Minn.) Symphony.
In the commercial arena, Dr. Dissmore has performed with such varied entertainers as Ella Fitzgerald, Daniel O’Donnell, Ray Price, Kenny Rogers, Leslie Uggams, Regis and Kathy Lee, John Tesch, Mel Torme, and many others.
At Evangel University, Dr. Dissmore conducts the University and Concert Orchestras and teaches Applied Violin and Viola and Instrumental Conducting. Under his leadership, the Evangel Concert Orchestra has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
Dr. Dissmore holds a BME degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, an MM in Violin Performance from Wichita State University, and a DMA in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music where he was a student of Dr. Robert Olson.
